La Monte Edwards first fell in love with movies and pop culturegrowing up in the tranquil city of Meadville, PA. Eager to study thecraft of filmmaking in the same classrooms as Woody Allen, Spike Leeand Martin Scorsese, La Monte graduated from New York University'sfilm school.Soon after graduation, La Monte's first feature-length comedy script,"My Favorite Cousin" was a top-five finalist in The IFP Gordon ParksScreenwriting competition and his award-winning psychological dramashort “Anguish", was featured in The IFP Gordon Parks Showcase. Later, “King of Paper Chasin’,” La Monte’s first feature-length film as awriter/director, opened to two sold-out theaters at HBO’s New YorkLatino Film Festival, a first in the long history of this prestigiousfestival. His latest short film “Chatsworth”, which explores the mind of a struggling musical writer, made the festival circuit and won Best Screenplay at the Studio City Film Festival. La Monte worked in Editorial for Dick Wolf’s hit show “Chicago Med”, which airs on NBC to over 7 million viewers, for the past two seasons.
